Work Hours/Shift:

You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Facilitates EP/HF program growth, educating key stakeholders and referral physicians.

  • Implements Electrophysiology/HF program processes and protocols to assure smooth operations and patient flow, inclusive of device clinics.

  • Facilitates development of the program and growth opportunities including, but not limited to development of AFIB and HF clinic.

  • Manages incoming referrals to the Electrophysiology and/or Advanced Heart Care Clinic including but not limited to:

  • Perform initial clinical evaluations on patients referred with rhythm abnormalities.

  • Orders, schedule, coordinate and interpret all appropriate diagnostic tests in collaboration with care Team and physician.

  • Facilitates and Ensures all protocols are evidence based and staff are educated to such.

  • Is expert in electrophysiology and/or advanced heart failure and mentors other NPs, staff, etc. regarding care of the EP patient.

  • Review medications in accordance with guidelines developed with EP/HF medical director and evidenced based guidelines.

  • Supports physician subspecialties on both the inpatient and outpatient basis.

  • Educates department staff in the electrophysiology/Heart Failure program and key stakeholders, such as, but not limited to RN staff, technologists, etc within hospital and office departments.

  • Facilitates and participates in the development of electrophysiology and advanced heart failure policies, procedures, and protocols

  • Practice demonstrates expertise in advanced heart failure and/or electrophysiology, rhythm disturbances, and advanced EKG interpretation and general cardiology.

  • Work collaboratively with the vendors for the HF and/or EP program to ensure we are compliant with all requirements.

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  • Master’s Degree

  • Kansas Nurse Practitioner License (APRN/NP)

  • Up to 5 Year of Position-Related Experience directly in field of electrophysiology &/or Heart Failure

  • Demonstrates expertise in advance rhythm management and electrophysiology

  • BLS & ACLS obtained through the American Heart Association

Job Summary:

The EP (Electrophysiology) Nurse Practitioner (APRN/NP) is a professional nurse licensed in Kansas with extensive experience in the cardiology subspecialty of electrophysiology. The EP APRN functions in an expanded role to provide electrophysiology subspecialty care to individuals, families or groups. The EP APRN functions in a collegial relationship with electrophysiologists, other cardiologists, hospitalists, internal medicine physicians and other health professionals in the delivery of electrophysiology health care services. Provides overall coordination of Electrophysiology program for AdventHealth. Provides care under the direction of the supervising Electrophysiologist, cardiologists, and CT surgeons. Leads management, education, and growth of the electrophysiology program in collaboration with the EP Medical Director and Executive Director of CV Services. Has expertise in the clinical management of the electrophysiology medical and procedural patient. The EP subspecialty APRN has the responsibility for assessment and management of electrophysiology patients in the clinic, pre and post procedure, including diagnostic and therapeutic intervention, and day to day implementation and evaluation of the appropriate plan of care on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. The EP APRN works in collaboration with the medical, nursing and support services to provide patient and family focused care. The EP APRN leads active participation in PI & data collection and EP research. The EP APRN is also responsible to lead and facilitate staff development and continuing education in the subject of electrophysiology. The EP APRN prepares and facilitates EP case reviews. The EP APRN is a proficient resource related to the subspecialty of electrophysiology for other physicians, mid-level providers and allied health. He/She is able to make independent decisions with physicians in carrying out electrophysiology, rhythm management and other cardiology regimens for clients. He/She manages and educates others regarding device evaluations and MRI compatibility. The EP Nurse Practitioner demonstrates AdventHealth Service Standards. The EP APRN is proficient in CPOE and is a resource to the physicians, nurses and other disciplines. In collaboration with the electrophysiologists, the EP Nurse Practitioner is able to perform a comprehensive History and Physical, electrophysiology assessment and analysis, physical assessment, analysis, and develops and implements a plan of care, order and interpret results of laboratory and diagnostic tests, coordinates and initiates consults, reviews and adjust medications and dosages, provides patient education and comprehensive discharge planning. The EP APRN consults and collaborates with other physicians and disciplines to ensure smooth and timely throughput, including coordination of discharges and transfers. The EP Nurse Practitioner documents and meets criteria for evidence based and quality outcomes. The Nurse Practitioner may work with utilization review, multidisciplinary teams and floor managers to achieve prompt and proper admission and placement, optimize length of stay, and provides superior quality service. The EP NP also participates in approved EP research and programmatic expansion.
