You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Demonstrates collaboration and teamwork in managing patient flow

  • Maintains expected departmental productivity

  • Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost and impact on practice in the delivery of therapy services

  1. Correct utilization of Pyxis system for supplies

  2. Enters patient charges per departmental policy

  3. Complies with decisions made for staffing adjustments

  • Collection of comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation
  1. Performs initial RT assessment within expected timeframe

  2. Identifies patient/family teaching and discharge planning needs

  3. Performs consults as indicated from database collection

  • Analyzes the assessment data to determine course of treatment
  1. Utilizes assessment data to determine expected outcomes and plan of care
  • Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or situation
  1. Involves patient, family and other healthcare providers in developing expected outcomes when appropriate

  2. Defines and documents expected outcomes with inclusion of patient’s values, ethical and cultural considerations

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED :

  • Knowledge of the therapeutic recreation principles, techniques and methods and their application to the rehab population

  • Knowledge of the physiological, social, and psychological implications for the disease processes experienced the rehab population being served

  • Ability to select and administer a variety of appropriate testing methods and use the results to plan individualized therapeutic programs

  • Ability to evaluate client progress and to present evaluative reports in rehab interdisciplinary team meetings

  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with clients, families, a variety of professional disciplines and the general public

  • Basic data entry computer skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Graduate of an accredited Recreation Therapy School

  • Recreation Therapy Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum one (1) year health care experience (hospital based acute care)

  • Certification from the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation

  • Valid BCLS or completion within 90 days of hire

Job Summary:

The Recreation Therapist coordinates the therapeutic recreation programs for CIRU patients. Further evaluates, assesses, establishes goals and implements recreational programs to enhance rehabilitation, provides diversion programs and leisure education to patients.
